• Nirvana Spa & Resort

Well-known to the Vietnamese as a popular weekend gateway from both Danang and Hue, Land Co has so far flown beneath the radar for international beach-lovers.

Nirvana Resort is one of a few resorts situated at the heart of Lang Co Peninsula which is renowned for its natural landscape, imposing scenery, mountains and forests, Nirvana Spa & Resort is expertly designed and built in combination of Classical French motif and Japanese Meditation in accordance with Feng Shui, these luxurious 2-storey, 4 -room Villas and exclusive Apartment – hotels. Its own private beach is over a kilometre long. The setting, with Hai Van Mountain in the background, is idyllic. It has a rustic charm that is becoming eroded with the continued development of Vietnam’s coastline.

Though lacking some of the amenities and landscaping you might expect from more developed beach detinations, Nirvana is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The 20 villas each containing a private spa, are designed with families and small groups in mind.

Boys of ‘66 see sign of danger; Greavsie

0 Comments | People (London, England), The, Dec 6, 2009

    Byline: Dave Kidd

WHEN the World Cup draw was announced on Friday, I was in Wolverhampton to compere a show for the boys of ‘66.

I spent the evening performing like Dermot, off of the X Factor, only none of my nine panelists – all the surviving members of the World Cup final starting line-up – had had any wax treatments or hair extensions, and they were all a good deal uglier than the experts on the telly.

Except Nobby Stiles, he’s still got a gorgeous smile.

There was a lot of excitement from the Midlands folk who were a little over-optimistic by how kind the draw had been to England. And a lot more caution from those who lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy 43 years ago.

Although those old boys would lose their unique mantle if England win the World Cup in South Africa next summer, I know they would all love to see Fabio Capello’s team triumph.

They all see a genuine similarity between Capello and Alf Ramsey. Both men command respect, rather than merely demand it. Both see the virtue of strict rules, a spartan existence and not taking your wives to war with you.

Perhaps the best point was made by big Jack Charlton who insisted that, if England do not win the World Cup this time, they are unlikely to do so in the foreseeable future.

Eight years ago, we could see Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Frank Lampard emerging a mile off, but that was before foreign talent dominated the Premier League.

I can’t see anyone of that calibre coming through now

CHICAGO, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ — For many homebuyers and homeowners, historically low rates and the new tax incentives on housing in the government’s economic stimulus bill are like manna from heaven. But if you’re a first-time buyer or looking to refinance your existing home, here’s something you should chew on first: the latest book by mortgage expert Dale Vermillion, Navigating Mortgage Maze: The Simple Truth About Financing Your Home.

Vermillion reveals more than just the facts about mortgages and proven ways to recapture personal wealth being wasted on interest and debt. He also offers truths about life itself that can set you on the path to financial independence and true happiness. The result is a book that’s far more than a success formula or how-to guide.

The author learned the hard way that happiness is something money can’t buy. At the age of 14, his father was involved in a work accident that nearly took his life. Months later, his older brother drowned. This left a void in Vermillion’s life that he attempted to fill with money, success and alcohol.

At age 20, he started out as a loan officer without a college degree. By age 30, he was a senior executive at a national mortgage company. He had achieved the kind of financial wealth he had always dreamed of, but he didn’t feel “wealthy.”

He remembers, “Emotionally, I could not understand how a loving God could take my brother, devastate our family, and let me wander into all kinds of troubles that led to pain, suffering and guilt. Yet I still knew that I needed to learn about God and test what the Bible claimed to be Truth. After doing so, I made a leap of faith and committed my life to Jesus Christ.”

Today, Vermillion is happily married with four children, and is now a prominent international speaker, consultant and industry expert

Black Dog claimed last Sunday that I sent my calling card to MPs offering to treat them for depression caused by the expenses scandal. In fact, I visited Westminster Gym to speak about how hypnotherapy could help with all kinds of conditions such as weight loss, addictions, building confidence, conceiving, pain, anxiety, fear and phobias. I never chatted with any MPs and in any case, depression is a serious clinical condition which requires medical advice.

  • Nanny knew best

    Nanny knew best

Spectator, The, Dec 5, 2009 by Lieven, Dominic

    A MOTH ON THE FENCE

by Nikolay Andreyev, translated by Patrick Miles

    Hodgson Press, Kingston-upon-Thames, 12.99, pp. 282,

    ISBN 9781906164027

Born in 1908, Nikolay Andreyev came from a middle-class family in provincial Russia. His father and mother were both school teachers. His mother had many jewels but never wore them in public, since she believed a teacher should not show herself to be concerned with such fripperies. His parents’ views were those of the liberal intelligentsia. An uncle was killed by the police during a demonstration in the revolutionary year of 1906. Only his nanny was a monarchist, howling, ‘Woe unto you all, woe’ when she heard of the Tsar’s abdication.

Nikolay’s mother banished her instantly to her room for spoiling the family’s celebrations.

Later, amidst civil war and Bolshevik terror, Nikolay’s father was heard to mutter that ‘when the Emperor abdicated the only person in our room with any sense was Nanny’.

After months of hunger, danger and uncertainty Nikolay’s family fled over the Estonian border in the winter of 1919 in the wake of Yudenich’s retreating White army. His seven-year-old sister, Tanya, died of influenza and hunger during their flight. For the first time in his life Nikolay saw his father cry, devastated by helplessness to save his child. ‘He was powerless to help . . . he had lost his social status, his material security, his national selfassurance, the strength of his convictions.’

In time his father acquired a job as a junior engineer in Tallinn on the basis of his initial training before he switched to being a teacher
