Additionally, for either tax credit on biodiesel cost, one of the following criteria must also be met; the biodiesel production company actually uses the biodiesel itself as a fuel; the biodiesel production company sells the biodiesel retail which is then used in the fuel tank of the buyer.

The tax credits on Straight Biodiesel are equal to $1 per gallon of agri-biodiesel and $0.50 per gallon of waste grease biodiesel. The tax credits on Biodiesel Mixtures are $0.01 (a penny) per percentage point of agri-biodiesel and $0.005 (half-a-cent) per percentage point of waste grease biodiesel.

That is, unless the amount of credit approved to taxpaying biodiesel companies applying for the credit in a given year exceeds the annual cap of $1.5 million, in which case the Department of Revenue will prorate credits to biodiesel production companies accordingly.

These tax credits, however, are currently temporary, and set to expire in 2008 ? an added incentive to get started now on that biodiesel production company of your own that you?ve been dreaming about.

THE vast majority of Scots are still regular newspaper readers, with The Herald coming out as the most popular quality newspaper in the country.

A new survey shows strong support across the board for printed and online media.

Seven-in-10 Scots read a paper or look at a news-paper website three or four days every week, the poll reveals.

However, less than one-quarter regularly access the BBC news website, paid for through the licence fee.

Contrary to popular perceptions, younger people were also most likely to say they read a newspaper on a regular basis.

Three-quarters of 18 to 24-year-olds read a paper at least three or four times a week either in print or online, compared to 68% of 25 to 34-year-olds, 65% of 35 to 54-year-olds and 73% of those over 55.

The Herald came out as the most popular quality newspaper in the country, ahead of the Scotsman and London-produced titles.

The poll of 1013 Scottish residents found that 10% read The Herald three or four days per week, either in print, online at Heraldscotland.com or both.

The figures were compiled by Ipsos Mori after a telephone survey of 1013 Scottish residents.

According to the survey’s findings, people’s affluence has little effect on whether or not they read a paper or news website, though it does have some bearing on which title they read.

Seven-in-10 people from the poorest areas of Scotland said they read news regularly, only slightly lower than the 73% from the more affluent areas.
